WELCOME Since its inception in 1943 as a social group for wives of physicians serving at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, the Medical Center Guild has evolved into an organization of spouses of faculty, house staff, and administration of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The Guild’s mission is to provide opportunities for leadership, growth, friendship, service, and self enrichment to its talented and diverse membership through a variety of activities, as well as to provide funding for otherwise unmet need of benevolence at the Medical Center. In 2000, the Guild pledged $25,000.00 to establish an endowed Medical Center Guild Medical Student Scholarship Fund. Our pledge has been met and in 2004, the scholarship was awarded to its first recipient. The Guild continues to fund raise and contribute to the endowment each year. Click on the link titled Scholarship for more info about events this year. UPCOMING EVENTS There is going to be a MURDER!!! Saturday November 8th at Old Town Country Club the Guild and Alliance will host their Joint Fall Meeting. We will be doing something a little different this year. The meeting will be in the evening and will be a fund raiser for the proposed Josh and Marie Reynolds Hospitality House, a much needed service for our community. Drinks, dinner, and dessert will be served. Then, we will watch a skit in which a “murder” happens and we will solve the crime! Sounds like a lot of mysterious fun to benefit a good cause. Tables can be reserved but seating is limited so hurry and send in your RSVP. This could be a great girl’s night out affair if your husbands aren’t game. It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas... The annual Guild Holiday Brunch will be December 3rd from 10:00am until noon at the home of Janie Slaughter 150 Wing Haven Circle (Greenbrier Farms). As always, we will have lots of good food and fellowship, plus we will be offering a Cookie Exchange! If you would to participate – bake your favorite cookies and bring them along to exchange with others. You take home a variety of wonderful homemade cookies just in time for the holidays!! Invitations will be mailed out soon. We will be accepting monetary donations for the Arts for Life program at Brenner Children’s Hospital that works with pediatric cancer patients. Come share with us during this special time of year. |
